BLANCHIE CARTER DISCOVERY PARK
Blanchie Carter Discovery Park is a 4 acre outdoor play and learning environment that is part of the Center Campus. In 1995, a group of parents decided that the children and community deserved more than a hot, dusty, barren, unsafe playground and initiated a process to transform it into an outdoor classroom where the children and the community could exercise and learn through play and investigation of living environments. Blanchie Carter was the first learning park in the Country and was designed by NCSU's Robin Moore, Director of what subsequently became the Natural Learning Initiative. Unfortunately, for years the Park was neglected by Moore County Schools. It is being revitalized by the Trust.
